Chengdu Symphony Orchestra

Chengdu, an open, inclusive, fashionable and innovative mega-city in western China, has been given a unique humanistic character and spirituality by the “International Music Capital” for this city of parks. On the banks of the Jinjiang River and under the snowy mountains, the Chengdu Symphony Orchestra (CDSO) continues to perform majestic and grand music that sing for the times and express emotions for the people, building a music hall that blends Eastern and Western styles and appeals to both refined and popular tastes for the city.

In 2021, CDSO held high the banner of reform and made an innovation move from zero, becoming an independent professional orchestra with Xiao Ying serving as the president. Under the guidance of maestro Yu Feng, CDSO has completed 2022 pilot season and 23/24 season. In 24/25 season, we will go on our contract with famous conductor, Ms. Chen Lin, as the music director and compose a cadenza for Chengdu’s melodious movement.

In 2024, CDSO has officially moved into the CDSO Music Hall at Fenghuang Mountain Open-air Music Park, achieving the integration of hall and orchestra. As the result, it has become the largest platform and window in the West for the popularization, promotion, and dissemination of symphonic music. We are committed to excellence both inside and out, and with the support of the concert hall in the park, we aim to create an international music season in the future, making the concert hall a landmark of Chengdu’s music scene and a leading brand for symphony orchestras

With the integration of the orchestra and concert hall, CDSO uses music to serve the people, share joy, tell the stories of Chengdu, and convey the sounds of Sichuan. Through music, we paint a picture of a bright future, contributing dynamic and powerful musical forces to the beautiful vision of Chengdu’s building “Three Cities and Three Capitals.”
