Oleksii Abashnik is a gifted Ukrainian clarinetist with a solid foundation in musical education. He received professional mentorship from Valeriy Mykolayovych Altukhov—a renowned professor and director of a state music lyceum. After completing his secondary musical education with honors, he pursued clarinet studies at a national university of the arts, and later continued his academic journey at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg in Germany, where he is currently in his 7th semester pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Clarinet (Artistic Profile). He studies under the guidance of distinguished professors, including Kilian Herold, Anton Hollich, and Florian Schüle.
Oleksii Abashnik has attained remarkable achievements in numerous competitions and amassed extensive performance experience. He has claimed grand prizes, first prizes, and other prestigious honors in various national and international competitions, and made his debut solo performance with a professional orchestra at the Odessa Opera House. He has also actively participated in masterclasses across Europe, learning from world-renowned clarinetists such as Martin Fröst, Anneline Van Wauwe, and Sharon Kam. Additionally, he is an active member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, having participated in internationally acclaimed music festivals, and regularly takes part in university orchestra and chamber music projects in Germany.
Beyond his academic pursuits and performance career, Oleksii Abashnik has also engaged in pedagogical work as a clarinet teacher since September 2024. His outstanding academic and artistic accomplishments have earned him the Baden-Württemberg Scholarship and the Deutschlandstipendium. In September 2025, he successfully passed the audition for the Bundeswehr Music Corps and received an offer for a permanent position, with plans to commence his service in October 2026 upon fulfilling the naturalization requirements.
