Lin Zicheng began learning the clarinet at the age of 8. With a solid foundation and outstanding talent, he was admitted to the Middle School Affiliated to the Central Conservatory of Music with the first place in his major in 2020, studying under Wang Tao, a clarinetist and professor at the Central Conservatory of Music. Under professional guidance, he continuously polishes his playing skills and improves his artistic accomplishment.
Lin Zicheng has performed prominently in various music competitions and won many important honors. In 2019, he won the second place in the Children’s Group of the Beijing Division of the 1st Yamaha Cup National Clarinet Competition; in October 2020, he was awarded the first prize in the Non-Professional Junior Group of the National Clarinet Concerto Competition; in 2022, he won the first prize in the Wind Music Junior Soloist Group at the Alba International Music Festival; in 2023, he successively won the first prize in the Beijing Division and the second prize in the national final of the Special Ensemble (Chamber Music) of the 8th CYMC · Hummingbird Music Award, as well as the first prize in the Woodwind Group of the Stravinsky International Music Competition and the first prize (highest score) in the China Division and the Excellence Award in the Osaka Final of the 24th Osaka International Music Competition.
In professional practice and international competition experience, Lin Zicheng has continuously broken through himself. In September 2024, he began to serve as the principal clarinetist of the Symphony Orchestra of the Middle School Affiliated to the Central Conservatory of Music; from 2024 to 2025, he successively participated in the 52nd Belgrade International Youth Music Competition (Serbia), the Pachhausen International Clarinet Competition (Luxembourg), the Lisbon International Clarinet Competition (Portugal), and the Cluj International Music Competition (Romania), all successfully advancing to the subsequent stages, showing strong professional strength.
