Mikhail Filimontsev was born in Moscow. He graduated in 2024 from the Gnesin Moscow Special School of Music (class of Associate Professor M. I. Beznosov, Honored Artist of Russia, Soloist of the State Academic Symphony Orchestra “Evgeny Svetlanov”). And now he’s continuing his studies at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory in the clarinet class of M. I. Beznosov.
Mikhail actively performs at Russia’s leading concert halls, such as the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, the Zaryadye Concert Hall and others, both as a soloist and as part of various ensembles and orchestras.
Over the course of his training, Mikhail was the winner of the following contests: in The International Gnessin Competition for Young Musicians on Wind and Percussion Instruments, the First St. Petersburg International Youth Mussorgsky Competition, All–Russian Open Youth Clarinetist Competition “Maestro Time” and etc. He has participated in master classes led by E. Petrov, V. Kulyk, K. Dohnal, S. Eletskiy, and O. Tantsov.
He is a scholarship holder of the «New Names» Foundation and a participant of the 30th «Summer School in Suzdal».
Since 2024, he has been a soloist of the All-Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by People’s Artist of the USSR Yuri Bashmet.
Since 2025, he has been a participant in the programs of the St. Petersburg House of Music under the leadership of People’s Artist of Russia, Professor Sergei Roldugin.
