Fong Shing has an excellent educational background in music. He obtained a Bachelor (Hons) of Music with First Class Honour from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (2019-2023) and completed the Junior Music Programme there from 2017 to 2019. Later, he pursued a Master of Orchestral Performance at Haute Ecole de Musique (HEMU). He has studied under renowned teachers including Florent Héau, Andrew Simon, Lorenzo Iosco and Wong Ka Yee Maria, and is a recipient of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund Award.

Fong has achieved remarkable results in various competitions. He won the first prize in both the Solo – Open Class and Ensemble – Community Class of the Buffet Crampon Clarinet Competition. He was also the winner of the HKAPA Concerto Trial, and obtained the first prize and gold award at the 2nd PREMIA International Young Artists Music Festival. In addition, he won the second prize and Outstanding Young Musician Award at the 2022 International Ponte Music Concerto Competition (Grand Finale).

He has rich experience in orchestral and chamber music performances. He has participated in the Lucerne Festival Academy, served as a Fellow of The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, and participated in related activities at MusicAlp. He has performed as a soloist in The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (performing Copland Clarinet Concerto) and The Ponte Orchestra (performing Weber Clarinet Concerto No.1). He has also been involved in orchestras, concert bands, and chamber music performances such as Prokofiev Quintet, Woodwind, Brahms Clarinet Quintet, and “Clarisma” Clarinet Quintet at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
