Bai Yang graduated from Sichuan Conservatory of Music and currently serves as a clarinetist of the Chengdu City Concert Hall Symphony Orchestra. He is also a top-tier talent of Sichuan Conservatory of Music and a member of the Sichuan Clarinet Society. He studies under Sun Zhen, a clarinet teacher of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, a Buffet Young Artist, and the Asian Executive of the International Clarinet Association. During his studies at school, he actively participated in competitions, masterclasses and concerts inside and outside the school. In 2018, he won the first place in the “Yamaha Star Wind Instrument Performance Competition” and the first place in Group B of the Amateur Group of the “1st Buffet Cup (China) Youth Clarinet Competition”. In 2021, he joined the Yuchu Clarinet Quartet in the “2nd Buffet Cup (China) Youth Clarinet Competition” and won the first place in the Amateur Ensemble Group. In the same year, he won the 5th place in the Youth Group of the “1st Witold Frieman International Clarinet Competition” in Poland. In 2022, he won the second place in the Professional Ensemble Group of the “Qingdao National Clarinet Competition”, and then won the second prize in the “Yamaha Wind Instrument Scholarship Competition” held by Sichuan Conservatory of Music. In 2023, he won the third place in the Professional Youth Group of the “3rd Buffet Cup National Clarinet Competition”, and then participated in the Karuizawa International Clarinet Summer Camp in Japan, receiving guidance from Professor Charles Neidich of the Juilliard School, Professor Ayako Oshima of Hartt University, and Mr. Andy Simon, Principal Clarinetist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, and participated in concerts. In the same year, he went to Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, to participate in the “7th Lisbon International Clarinet Competition” and finally entered the final. In 2024, he participated in the South African International Woodwind Competition and finally obtained the 4th place. In 2024, he won the first prize in the Ensemble Group of the Sichuan Division of the “9th China Youth Music Competition •Hummingbird Music Competition”, and then was admitted to the Chengdu City Concert Hall Symphony Orchestra as a clarinetist. Later, he went to the Alps to study under Romain Guyot, a clarinet professor at the Geneva Conservatory of Music, Principal Clarinetist of the European Chamber Orchestra, and Principal Clarinetist of the Orchestre National de France. In 2025, he went to Italy to participate in the 1st Italian “Portus Naonis” International Clarinet Competition, successfully entered the final and won the 4th place. In the same year, he went to Hong Kong to study under Florent Héau, a clarinet professor at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris and the Conservatoire de Lausanne.
