Zhang Kaixiang was admitted to the Affiliated Secondary Music School of Sichuan Conservatory of Music in 2023, where he has been receiving systematic training under the guidance of Sun Zhen, a young clarinet teacher in the Orchestral Department of Sichuan Conservatory of Music and a young performer. During his studies, he has continuously polished his professional skills, gradually formed his own unique playing style, and rapidly improved his musical aesthetics and artistic expression ability.

Zhang Kaixiang has performed prominently in various music competitions and won many honors. In May 2024, he won the first prize in Group C (Professional Group) of the Special Ensemble Group (Chamber Music) in the Sichuan Division of the 9th China Youth Music Competition Hummingbird Music Award; in June of the same year, he obtained the first prize in the Clarinet Professional Junior Group of the Sichuan Preliminary Round of the 10th Melbourne International Music Competition; in July, he won the first place in the Professional Ensemble Group of the Yunnan International Clarinet Art Festival and the 1st Koletman Cup National Youth Clarinet Competition; in October, he participated in the International Clarinet Competition “Saverio Mercadante” in Italy and successfully advanced to the top 7 finals of the Junior Group. In July 2025, he won the Jury Honor Award in the Professional Ensemble Group of the 4th Buffet Cup (China) Youth Clarinet Competition; in January 2026, he won the first place in the Quartet Group of the Ghent International Youth Clarinet Competition.
