Liu Haoru is currently a master clarinet student at the Mannes School of Music in New York. In his early years, he studied the clarinet under Wang Lin and Liu Lidong, then attended the Affiliated Secondary School of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, studying under Teacher Sun Zhen. Currently, he continues his further study at the Mannes School of Music, learning successively under Charles Neidich and Jon Manasse to continuously improve his professional ability.

Liu Haoru has rich performance and practical experience. He once participated in the rehearsal and performance of projects such as the Chengdu Symphony Orchestra as a clarinetist. During his studies at school, he has long been engaged in chamber music ensemble training at the Mannes School of Music since 2021. Under the guidance of the college’s faculty, he continuously carries out repertoire rehearsal and stage practice, and also actively participates in music festival activities such as the Mannes Sounds Festival and the Imani Winds Music Festival. At the same time, he has performed excellently in various international competitions and won many honors, including the first prize in Group B of the 2020 Thailand International Clarinet Competition, the first prize in the 2019 OMARTIS International Arts Competition in Singapore, the first prize in the 2020 Iscart International Music Competition in Switzerland, and the Future Award in the 2019 Buffet Crampon Clarinet Competition.
