Clarinetist / Yu Tsai-i is currently a junior at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Lyon (CNSMD de Lyon) in France, studying under Nicolas Baldeyrou, Principal Clarinet of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Franck Amet, Principal Clarinet of the Orchestre de la Garde Républicaine, and Florent Héau, who teaches clarinet at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris (CRR de Paris) and the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU de Lausanne). In Taiwan, she once studied under Hsiao Ming-chia, Sung Wei-te, and Lai Chun-yen.
She has won the first and second prizes in two consecutive Buffet Clarinet Competitions in 2022 and 2020, and has been ranked among the top three with a distinction in the clarinet category of two consecutive National Music Competitions. During her high school years in 2019, she went to Japan to participate in the High School Clarinet Competition of the All-Japan Classical Music Competition (All-Japan Clarinet Music Competition) and won the first prize. She was also invited by the Japanese side to participate in the 2020 Winners’ Concert, which was highly praised.
In addition to her competition experience, Tsai-i also actively participates in various forms of performances. In addition to being frequently invited to hold solo and chamber music concerts, she has also served as Principal Clarinet of the orchestra at the Labeaume en musiques Festival in France and Principal Clarinet of the orchestra at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Lyon, touring with the orchestra.
